Thanks to his outstanding voice, the Venezuela-born tenor was accepted into the Simón Bolívar National Youth Choir of Venezuela at an early age, where he was part of the artistic team that enjoyed great success on tours of Portugal, France, Italy, Austria, Germany, and the United Kingdom.

His numerous concerts abroad have included choral and solo recitals in prestigious concert halls such as the Royal Festival Hall in London, the Maison de la Radio France in Paris, the Palace of Versailles, Notre Dame Cathedral, Milan Cathedral, and the Gulbenkian Theatre in Lisbon.

During his time in Ecuador, he was a member of the choir of the National Theatre of Sucre in Quito, where he performed as a solo tenor in important concerts such as Beethoven's 9th Symphony with the Symphony Orchestra of Loja under the direction of Maestra Ángeles Terreros and the Requiem by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart at the National Theatre of Sucre with the Symphony Orchestra of Ecuador. He also took part in productions of Pagliacci (2017) and Madama Butterfly (2018). In 2020, he won the 'International Rotary Special Prize' at the 11th edition of the International Lyric Singing Competition in Ravello, and in 2021 took third place at the 3rd European Opera Competition - Torino in the World.

He launched his career in his native Venezuela, where he was heard in numerous performances. At the same time, he continued his training in Madrid at the 'Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofía', where he received further training and masterclasses from prominent teachers such as Ryland Davies, Javier Camarena, David Gowland, and Susan Bullock.

Under the direction of Francisco Araiza, he completed his training in the Alfredo Kraus programme for lyric singing at the Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofía in Madrid.

Jorge Puerta has been a member of the Deutsche Oper Berlin ensemble since the 2022/23 season, where his roles have included Gabriele Adorno in Simone Boccanegra. Guest engagements in the previous season took the artist to Rijeka as Leandro in Arlecchino, to the Teatro Municipal in Santiago de Chile as Rodolfo in La Bohème and to the Semperoper Dresden as Radames in Aida.

The 2023/24 season includes Calaf in Turandot and Radames at his home theatre in Berlin. Guest appearances will take him to La Coruna and Vilnius as Radames and to the Carreño Theatre in Venezuela as Alfredo in La Traviata.
