Volodymyr Morozov

Ukrainian bass Volodymyr Morozov is rapidly emerging as one of the most captivating young voices on the international opera scene. He began his musical education at the Tchaikovsky National Music Academy in Kyiv, later receiving private coaching from the celebrated bass Taras Shtonda at the National Opera of Ukraine.

His passion for the Italian vocal tradition led him to further studies at the Conservatorio Benedetto Marcello in Venice with Stefano Gibellato and at the Conservatorio Giuseppe Verdi in Milan under Michele Porcelli.
In the 2022/23 season, Morozov joined the prestigious Accademia del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, where he performed Zuniga in Carmen, the Grand Inquisitor in Don Carlo, and Dr. Grenvil in La Traviata, all under the musical direction of Maestro Zubin Mehta and staged by acclaimed director Matthias Hartmann. During this period, he had the honor of performing alongside such renowned artists as Plácido Domingo, Francesco Meli, Aida Garifullina, Enkhbat Amartuvshin, Clementine Margaine, Valentina Nafornită, and Christina Nilsson.
A prizewinner in several international competitions, Morozov has been increasingly in demand throughout Europe. He sang Mozartʼs Great Mass in C minor with the Orchestra of the Teatro Olimpico in Vicenza and Rovereto, and in March 2024 appeared as bass soloist in Verdiʼs Requiem in Brussels with the Bach Werk Company. In June 2024, he performed the role of Bartolo in Le nozze di Figaro in Salzburg.
May 2024 marked a major milestone with his portrayal of the title role in Verdiʼs Attila at the Teatro di Busseto in Verdiʼs birthplace. That summer, he starred in the world premiere of the operetta Bat Bomb in Bad Ischl, Austria – the 2024 European Capital of Culture and former residence of Franz Lehár.
In the 2024/25 season, he took on the role of Alvise Badoero in La Gioconda at the Teatro Lirico di Cagliari and made his debut at the Deutsche Oper Berlin as Ramfis in Aida (May 2025). Beginning with the 2025/26 season, he joins the ensemble of the Deutsche Oper Berlin as a permanent soloist.
